Samsung Electronics’ main South Korea union to strike over pay from Thursday By Reuters

SEOUL (Reuters) – Samsung Electronics (KS:)’ largest staff’ union in South Korea stated on Tuesday it might start a four-day strike from Thursday to stress the corporate over larger wages and bonuses after talks with administration fell by in July.

Lee Hyun-kuk, vp of the Nationwide Samsung Electronics Union (NSEU), stated in a dwell YouTube broadcast: “This strike is strategically designed to break the corporate.”

He stated the union, whose 36,500 members make up about 30% of Samsung Electronics’ South Korean workforce, expects the corporate wouldn’t have sufficient backup workplace staff to assist manufacturing traces in the course of the deliberate strike, as many staff can be away for a nationwide vacation on Thursday.

Samsung stated in a press release: “The corporate plans to make sure there are not any manufacturing disruptions and adheres to the no-work, no-pay ideas, whereas we proceed our effort to renew talks with the union.”
