The Indian Medical Affiliation (IMA) has introduced a 24-hour nationwide withdrawal of providers by medical doctors of contemporary drugs throughout the nation in protest in opposition to the brutal rape and homicide at R G Kar Medical Faculty and Hospital in Kolkata.
The protest will begin at 6 am on Saturday, August 17, 2024, and conclude at 6 am on Sunday, August 18, 2024, in line with a press release from IMA.
The incident triggered a nationwide wave of concern, prompting resident and junior medical doctors to abstain from work so as to protest.

IMA mentioned within the assertion that casualty and emergency providers won’t be disrupted and can proceed to function in all hospitals.
“All important providers might be maintained. Casualties might be manned. Routine OPDs won’t perform and elective surgical procedures won’t be performed. The withdrawal is throughout all of the sectors wherever fashionable drugs medical doctors are offering service,” the IMA mentioned in its assertion.
